I have several specific editorial services available for agents, publishers, packagers, and authors. I am also happy to customize a plan to suit your specific needs. FOR AGENTS, PUBLISHERS, AND PACKAGERS:

developmental editing:

MANUSCRIPT evaluations and readers reports:

Honest and detailed feedback on manuscripts being considered for representation or publication. Opinions based on my years of experience in trade publishing.  Flat fee or hourly, for publishers, agencies, or individuals. Please contact me to discuss how I can help you.

MANUSCRIPT editing:

Freelance editing, including editorial letter and line edits, depending on the stage of the project.  Flat fee based on genre and project scope. Please contact me to discuss how I can help you.

FOR AUTHORS:

I offer a wide range of services targeted to authors looking to improve and refine their work for submission or publication. Services include everything from general editorial feedback and query consults to full developmental editing. Please see the services and fee list below.  Contact me to get started!

SERVICES AND FEES:

I charge an hourly rate of approx $95/hr for small projects and consults. Larger, and more in-depth projects are priced as flat fees, pending word count and genre. All flat fee rates are subject to adjustment based on the size and scope of the project, and will be agreed upon prior to any in-depth work.

Before any work begins, I offer an initial manuscript evaluation of your manuscript and synopsis at no cost, and will send you an email with a suggested plan for your project.  If your work is not a good fit for any reason, a written declination will be sent within 10 business days. Contact me to get started!

Query consult:

An in depth consultation and evaluation of your query letter, synopsis, and 10 page sample of a manuscript.  

This includes a line edit on the query letter, and broad strokes feedback with a general overview of the manuscript.

  • $300

Partial manuscript consult:

An in depth consultation and evaluation of your query letter, synopsis, and up to 75 pages of a manuscript, via editorial letter.

This includes a line edit on the query letter; feedback and evaluation on the complete manuscript via comments tracked throughout the manuscript; and a detailed editorial letter outlining strategies to refine the manuscript, including specific suggestions and recommendations to strengthen plot, characterization, pacing, and voice. A broad strokes look at the big picture, with specific suggestions. For works in progress.

  • Flat fees begin at $500 for picture books, and $1,250 for novels and longer works.  Contact me for more details. 

Full Manuscript consult:

An in depth consultation and evaluation of your complete manuscript and synopsis, via editorial letter.

This includes feedback and evaluation on the complete manuscript via comments tracked throughout the manuscript and a detailed editorial letter outlining strategies to refine the manuscript, including specific suggestions and recommendations to strengthen plot, characterization, pacing, and voice. A broad strokes look at the big picture, with specific suggestions. For complete manuscripts.

  • Flat fees are partially determined by word count and scope of the project. Rates begin at $750 for picture books, and $1,250 for longer chapter books and novels.  Contact me for more details. 

Developmental editing:

An in depth consultation and evaluation of your complete manuscript and synopsis, via editorial letter and a full line edit.

This includes feedback and evaluation on the complete manuscript via comments tracked throughout the manuscript; a detailed editorial letter outlining strategies to refine the manuscript, including specific suggestions and recommendations to strengthen plot, characterization, pacing, and voice; and a detailed line edit refining phrasing and word choice. A broad strokes look at the big picture, with a targeted focus on the writing, voice and phrasings throughout the ms.  

  • Flat fees are partially determined by word count and scope of the project. Rates begin at $1,000 for picture books, and $1,750 for longer chapter books and novels. Contact me for more details.
